He looked like a Westerner, but thought like an Easterner. Van Lustbader handles the action scenes as deftly as he handles the emotional lives of the characters. Some of them did.

I started reading it at the behest of a neighbor with normally impeccable taste in books- he’s previously turned me on to both Carson Nnja and Dow Mossman. I remember these books as being cracking thrillers with insights into Japanese culture – oh, and plenty of hot sex.

We get two of these: Sure, I was forewarned that it wasn’t very good but that he had “loved it when he was a teen.

I found the description of the first couple of murders were written very well. When he finally did let me read it I was blown away.

The fight scenes were amazing, the overall story was amazing, learned tons and was entertained from cover vxn cover! It gives Lustbader the opportunity to properly explain basic concepts of Eastern philosophy, for example the concept of face, as Croaker learns about them for the first time. The book is divided into five parts, called “rings,” as an apparent homage to Miyamoto Musashi ‘s The Book of Five Rings. I paid 50 cents for this in and I’ve just about gotten my money’s worth by ranting here. Over years of training, he ascended to the highest ranks imaginable—until a confrontation over the very vann of ninjutsu changed his approach to martial arts forever, sending him on a journey that would take him across the globe.

The story starts and restarts in different times and as you go along the puzzle settles.

This is some of the most graceful and lyrical writing that I have ever encountered; reading “The Ninja” is like entering a dream. Linnear quickly realises that a ninja is the murderer and the next target is his new girlfriend’s father, Raphael Tomkin, whom he begins working for as a bodyguard, although not without persuasion. We’ll publish them on our site once we’ve reviewed them.


If you’re not feeling punished, at the end of book four, starts dropping the subject of the sentence. She is raised in a traditional Japanese household, but her parents suspected that she may be half Chinese.
